Pool and Club Diary 2008

19 - 20 July

Callum and Andy took a group to Wraysbury lake to complete their PADI Open Water Courses. Patrick, Sarah, Clair, Lucy, Tessa, Joe, George and Dimitri all had a great time at the lake and passed with help from Chester and Peter.

16 July

Jo completed her theory exam with flying colours whilst Heidi and George did a Scuba Review with Shaun. Jamie and David finished their skills with Howard. Instructor candidates and Divemaster Trainees Oona, Dawn, Peter and Chester went over their skills with Sophie. Well done to Chris and Justine who passed their Nitrox course with Roger. We also welcomed new divemaster trainee Megan.

12 - 13 July

Scott taught Lisa, Liam, David, Terry and Marcus their Open Water theory and pool skills whilst Sophie taught an EFR course with Joe, Will, Teresa and Mona. This very enjoyable and lively course was assisted by Ben who got bandaged a lot!

5 - 6 July

The Oliver family, Clair, Jo, Lucy, Joe and Tessa completed their theory and confined water skills for their PADI Open Water Course with Howard and Sophie, with help from Dawn and Oona.

28 - 29 June

Katie, Richard and Emma completed their PADI Open Water Referral course as did Sam, Kerri, James, Louis and Helen. Damian and Roger took a Discover Scuba course with Natalie while Mei and Chris learnt to snorkel with Katherine.

The club was down at Plymouth for the weekend fun diving in great vis.

21 - 22 June

Matt, Matthew, Dan, Michael, Graham and Cathy were successful and passed their PADI Open Water Diver course with Shaun, Andy and Peter.

In the pool Katie, Richard and Emma started their Open Water Referral course while Andy, Natalie and Alex passed their course.

Howard took Alison and Alasdair for the PADI Advanced Diver course.

14 - 15 June

Callum and Sophie took Matt, Sarah, Patricia, Michael, Matthew, Michael, Graham and Victoria for their PADI Open Water Referral scuba diving curse. They all did very well and passed comfortably. Pippa. Marc, Paul and Paul completed a Scuba Review.

11 June

Mandie and Pieter completed their Open Water Referral course ready to finish the dives in Dahab in Egypt.Arunsri, Candace and Mona took a Scuba Review while Nat taught Polly.

7 - 8 June

Poppy and Cathy completed their PADI Open Water qualifying dives with Andy, Dawn, Sean, Peter and Matt at Wraysbury Lake. Congratulations guys!!! :-)

31 May - 1 June

Anita, Gemma, Claudia, Stephanie, Maggie and Harry took their PADI Open Water Referral course with Andy, Sophie and Dawn while Poppy and Dave played in the pool.

24 - 25 May

Sophie P, Catherine, Ryan, Brent and Jody went off to Wraysbury for their Drysuit Specialty course which all enjoyed :-)

17 - 18 May

Barend, Cath, James and Will took their Advanced course with Richard and Howard at Vobster Quay and Portland.

Nicky, Maria, Owen, Teresa and Cathy took their Referral courses while David tried a Discover Scuba.

3 - 4 May

Grant, James, Rory, James, Ruth, James, Cathy, Damian and Steve all took their PADI Open Water Referral course while Sarah succesfully had a Discover Scuba session with Callum.

12 - 13 April

Simon, Monica, Sharon and Tolly all took their Referral course while Natalie, James and Amanda took a Discover Scuba course.

5 - 6 April

This week we had three PADI Open Water Referral courses taking place with Pascal, Dianne, Joelle, Saf, Simon, Daniel, Jonathon, Anna, Patrick, Cameron, Ryan, Christine, Matthew and Anna Congratulations to all!!

29 - 30 March

This weekend was our first trip to Wraysbury to qualify divers for the year. Tom, Gareth, Ryan and Joe all passed with flying colours while Tristan, Sarah, Jen and Mark passed their PADI Drysuit specialty course.

22 - 23 March

This weekend Heidi, Sarah, Michael, Alan, Joe and Zoe took their PADI Open Water Referral course while Geoff, Barend and Catherine sat their Emergency First Response course.

8 - 9 March

Another exciting weekend with Francesca, Emma, Tom, Beverley, Sally, Alan, Claudia and Colette completing their PADI Open Water Referral course while Charlotte, Isabel and Justin tried a Discover Scuba Diving session.

1 - 8 March

12 lucky divers joined us in Nuweiba for a week of diving and fun in the sunshine. Congratulations to Soren, Ken, Jenny and Laura who all completed courses while on holiday.

23 - 24 February

Also to Jen who flew through her Discover Scuba course with Neil while Gary and Margaret had a Scuba Review with Sandra.

9 - 10 February

What a great bunch of students!!! Gillian, Laura, Soren and Stuart all completed their PADI Open Water Referral course with Roger and Dawn. They were brilliant and raced through the theory and pool skills leaving themselves plenty of time to swim around and play in the pool at the finish. I am sure they will all go on to be very good divers :-) I think we have another 4 dive addicts!!!

16 January

A very quiet start to our Wednesday evening pool sessions for 2008. Rob was on his own to start his Referral course with Andy Browne and took advantage of the 1:1 tuition to steam through his skills. he did so well that it's likely he'l be able to complete them next Wednesday evening. Wee done Rob!!!

12 - 13 January

Our first course for 2008 and Habib, Christopher and Luke all successfully completed their PADI Open Water Referral courses with Stan and Chris.

19 December

Our last pool session for 2007 and we were joined by Nick, Sandra and Gareth who completed a PADI Scuba Review before their holidays abroad.

15 - 16 December

This weekend we were joined by Hugh, Andrew and Sophie who completed their PADI Open Water Referral course with Roger, Chris, Rhiannon and Caroline. They all did brilliantly and will make excelent divers.

9 December

John completed a private Referral course with Stan at Putney Leisure Centre before his holiday at the end of this week. Well done John and happy diving.

7 December

It was that time of the year again and 34 people joined us for the Dive Wimbledon Chrismas Party where we booked out the Mai Thai restaurant in South Wimbledon. Thanks to all those who came and helped to make it our most successful Christmas Party yet. I hope you all felt better than I did on Saturday ;-)

Fraser, Jamie and Paul completed the 2 qualifying dives for the PADI Drysuit specialty course at Wraysbury. Simon, Verity and Jeffery qualified as PADI Open Water Divers at Wraysbury with Andy while Kathryn and Doug completed the Referral course.

15 August

Paul, Jamie and Fraser played in drysuits while Bill, Alex and jeffery completed the Referral course. Katie, David and Laura-Louise completed a Scuba Review while Darren, Sian, Mark H, Keith and Rich practised.

11 12 August

This weekend Simon, Verity, Katie, Chris, Selin, Joanna, Becky and Dan completed the PADI Open Water Referral course at Putney Leisure Centre with Martha while Aaron, Sven and Brendan completed the qualifying dives for the Open Water course at Wraysbury with Stan. Andy Browne took Mike, Toby and Ross for their Drysuit dives.

8 August

Bill, Alex and Jeffery continued with ther Referral course while Ed, Deborah and Andrew completed a Scuba Review. Keith, Rich and Martin practised for the Rescue course while Fraser and Jamie played in the drysuits.

Andy took Ed, Kris, Kavan, Conor and Gemma for their Open Water course qualifying dives. Everybody passed despite the rain.

On Sunday Richard W and Richard S completed two Advanced dives to become PADI Advanced Open Water Divers.

20 June

Dean and Edyta completed a Scuba Review with Andy while Stuart took Andrew, Patrick, Tamsin and Tom for a refresher. Kavan finished his Open Water Referral course with Martha.

Kati, Dana and Matt sat their Nitrox Specialty course.

16-17 June

Katy, David, Gemma, Conor, Aidan, Sally, Stacy and Neil completed the PADI Open Water Referral course with Andy, Howard, Sean, Rhiannon, Martha and Roger.

Kamran, Ed and Dean completed their PADI Open Water Referral course with Howard Payne while Katherine taught Nigel, Olivia and Joshua how to snorkel.

On Sunday Staurt took Stacey and Neil for a Discover Scuba sessions before they signed up for the Referral course. Katherine took Verity, Simon, Shelley and Paula for a Discover Scuba and Verity and Simon signed up for the Referral course.

26-27 May

This weekend Charlie, Lucy and Sean compelted their PADI Rescue Diver course whil Francesca and Carol completed their 4 Open Water qualifying dives to become PADI Open Water Divers.

23 May

This Wednesday we mainly had divers practising in drysuits and picking up equipment for the weekends dives on the Kyarra.

19-20 May

Colin, Jo, Duncan, Josie, David, Luke and Ian completed the PADI Open Water Referral course with Sandra, Matt and Bob. Mareza, Hein and Wendy joined Shaun at Wraysbury for the 4 qualifying dives they needed to finish their PADI Open Water Diver course.

Olivia finished her PADI Advanced course with Howard amd Katrina at Vobster Quay and Portland.

16 May

Maresa and Hein returned to complete their Referral course with Andy while Olivia and ross learnt to use drysuits with Howard. Rohan completed his Nitrox course with Roger for jumping in the pool to join Chris and Susan.

9 May

Mischa and Matt completed a Refresher while Mona tried out drysuit diving for the first time. Ross, Jon and Sean all practised while Chris and Susan relearnt the wheel with Roger.

5-6 May

Howard and Andy taught Francesca, Kirstian, Samantha, Maresa, Hein and Adam for their PADI Open Water Referral course with the help of Susan, Adam and Barbora..

Sally completed a 1:1Discover Scuba session with Roger and signed up for the Referral course afterwards.

On Sunday James and Laura took the Discover Scuba introductory corse with Peter before signing up for the Referral course.

2 May

Guy, Andy, Olivia, Wendy. Tracey, Ross, George, Richard W, Richard S, Carol, Susan, Jon and Howard practised. Roger took Chris and Susan for some DM theory.

25 April

Nick, Claire and Mike practised before their trip to Dahab, Egypt with Dive Wimbledon.

Dee, Claire and Jenny had a refresher while Ross, Richard W, Richard S, George and Jon practised.

21-22 April

Carol, Huma, Lindsay and Chris spent the weekend sitting the PADI Open Water Referral course with Belinda. On Sunday Beata, Tom and Tamsin sat their Emergency First Response course.

James, Louise and Julio took their PADI Scuba Review refresher course.

A very busy weekend with Stan and Stuart teaching Susie, Neil, Doug, Jo, Natalie, Ian, Dani, Row, Kaspars and Rob how to scuba dive for the first time with the PADI Open Water Referral course. Dawn took David and Olivia for a Scuba Review.

Kirsty and Ian completed their PADI Drysuit Specialty course with Stan at Wraysbury.

4 April

Howard took Lara and Susie for a Scuba Review while Stan taught Kirsty and Ian how to use their new drysuits.

Adam and Barbora signed up for the Divemaster course.

3 April

A typical club pub night with 25+ people turning up for a drink and a chat. For the second month in a row women outnumbered men.

28 March

Congratulations to Howard and Andy for completing their PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor courses. Roll on the Instructor Exams next month and we will have two more new instructors.

Tonight Aaron successfully passed 3 Divemaster exams whil Toni did really well with her DM skill circuit. Mike had another practise in the capable hands of Howard.

Dana and Mal followed up the holiday to Nuweiba by joining the Dive Club.

24 - 25 March

Back to Southfields Community College for the first time this year and Sandra had Peter, Richard, Tracy, Pieto, Robyn, Sophia all taking their PADI Open Water Referral scuba diving course assisted by Katrina and Andy. Good luck to you all with your qualifying dives whether in the caribbean for the cricket, the Maldives or Mauritius.

Dawn and Simon had a practise with their new camera.

Neil ran an Emergency First Response course for Grant, Kath, Ania, Guy and Andy on Sunday.

Coraline completed her PADI Advanced Open Water course and Drysuit Specialty course with Stan at Wraysbury and Vobster Quay. Well done Coraline!!!

14 March

Coraline came to practise in a Drysuit with Howard as preperation for her Advanced course combined with the Enriched Air and Drysuit Specialty courses.

Mike McCormack had a refresher with Roger as part of his build up for his trip to Dahab with Dive Wimbledon at the end of April.

Andy Browne came to practise the DM exams in prperation for the Instructor course next week.

10 - 11 March

This weekend was the busiest of the year so far with Megan, Michael, Simon, Nick, Amie, Caroline, Steven, Stephen, David, Paul, Olivia, Stine, Emma and Grant all completing the PADI Open Water Referral course. Well done everybody. Thanks to our staff Shaun, Stan, Trevor, Howard, Gill, Jen and Toni who helped to teach them.

Katie and Anthony completed a Scuba Review with Peter while Dave took Sandra for a Discover Scuba Diving session.

On the Sunday Andy helped Tiffany run through a few skills in a pool refresher.

25 February - 4 March

Nuweiba - Egypt.

Roger, Jon, Kelly, Mona, Mal, Dana, Kati, Jerry, Andy the Elder, Andy the Younger, Doug, Samuela and Keri all joined the Dive Wimbledon holiday to Nuweiba staying at the 5* Hilton Coral Resort.

Everybody had a fabulous week enjoying the sunshine and diving.

Congratulations to Dana, Mal, Kati, Jerry, Jon, Keri, Sam and Andy for passing their PADI Open Water Diver course. Most of the divers also completed the Advanced including Mona, Dana, Keri, Mal, Kati, Jon, Andy and Jerry.

Thanks to Emperor Divers in Nuweiba once again for all their help. We will be back again next year!!

24-25 February

Sandra and Neil taught Nicholas, Wendy, Lou, William, John, Andrew and Elaine all the theory and skills required to become PADI Open Water Divers. Pieter had a scuba diving refresher with Dave while George and a friend practised their skills.

21 February

The last pool session before the Dive Wimbledon scuba diving holiday to Nuweiba and evrybody came to practise or collect their equipment. Craig, Debbie, Dave and Daniel had a Scuba Review session with Howard. Shannon practised in a drysuit before his Advanced course at the weekend and Grant came along to join the dive club.

14 February

We started back into our Wednesday evening club sessions with Mal and Dana coming to practise before there holiday in Nuweiba with Dive Wimbledon. Jerry, Kati and Michelle completed a Scuba Review with Howard while Andy, Doug and Samuela played on the bottom of the pool. Mark Hambleton completed his PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty course.

10 - 11 February

Thediving season has definately started now with a very busy weekend at the pool.

Stan took Ruth, Andy, Nancy and Juilio for their PADI Open Water Referral courses with the help of Toni, Gill and Andy. Well done to all the students who did so well.

Belinda took Carol for a 1:1 Referral course which she completedwell, much to her own surprise.

Mona and Roger played in the pool as preperation for the trip to Nuweiba at the end of the month.

On Sunday Paul, Sean and their friend completed a pool refresher with Neil and Susan.

Howard looked after Kati, Jerry and Kelly as they prepared for the trip to Nuweiba.

3 - 4 February

Stan took Dave and Andrew for the first half of their Advanced course at Wraysbury and Chepstow while Gill and Toni helped. Guy finally got to finish his drysuit course :-)

27 - 28 January

This weekend 2007 in London started with a bang as the pool was very busy both days.

Sandra took Deborah, Paul, Samuela, Paul, Carey and Andy for the PADI Open Water Referral scuba diving course assisted by Toni, Andy and Doug. They will all be heading off to exotic overseas locations to complete their qualifying dives including Samuela who will be coming to Nuweiba with Dive Wimbledon next month.

Harriet and Lee learnt to snorkel with Peter while Roger ran a Divemaster training session for Rhiannon, Matt, Gill, Jen and Toni.

On Sunday we also had Lynette and Joanne trying a Discover Scuba Diving session with Kath while Mike completed a very quick Scuba Review with Andy.

Dave taught Andrew anbd Dave how to use drysuits in preperation for their Advanced course with the Drysuit Specialty. They both picked it all up quickly.

16 December

The last pool sessions for 2006.

Tony completed his PADI Open Water Referral scuba diving course with Roger at Southfields pool.He was a natural.

Steve took a couple of his friends for a refresher.

8 December Dive Wimbledon Christmas Party

This year the Dive Wimbledon Christmas Party took place at Il Padrino Restaurant in Wimbledon. 30 instructors, divemasters, divemaster trainess and clun members turned up for a good night. Lots of food and lots to drink...though they ran out of beer very early and we had to start on ever increasingly expensive bottles of wine. What a shame!

Apart from a beer in a shoe incident everybody was quite civilised if rather noisy.

We can't have been too bad because as we were leaving the owner started giving us free sambuca shots!!!

6 December

Angus and Sarah joined us at Southfields Community College for their PADI Scuba Review as they hadn't dived for quite some time.

Stan took Oona, Katrina and Jen for some of their 20 scuba skills from the Divemaster skill circuit while Jon played. Roger took Doug for his DM orientation.

It must be winter as this was a very quiet weekend.

Peter completed his Open water Referral course with Roger and Katrina while Shaun took Mia for her Discover Scuba Diving session. Peter looked after Amy who was also completing a Discover Scuba session.

On Sunday Andy and Doug completed some of their Divemaster swim tests while Peter practised.

22 November

Jon practised the skills he learnt at the weekend to help prepare for his Open Water dives in Nuweiba with Dive Wimbledon in February.

Roger took Andy and Jen for a DM introductory pool session while Stan ran Oona and Katrina through most of the Divemaster skill circuit.

18-19 November

Sandra and Belinda taught Rachel, Alex, Gemma, Chris, Jon, Sarah, Sara, Candice and Jane all the theory and pool skills required for the PADI Open Water Referral course. Well done everybody!!

Roger gave Nancy a Discover Scuba Diving session on the Saturday and condusted a pool refresher for James and Anthony on the Sunday.

28-29 October

Congratulations to Jane, Alexis, Claire, Shane, Becky, Chantel and Ray for completing their Open Water dives with Stan and Iain ably assisted by Gill, Toni, Matt, Oona, Nellie and Dawn.

Doug and Andy are now Rescue divers after a successful Saturdays diving during which they rescued Roger many times :-)

Ken and Ross passed their PADI Drysuit Specialty courses with Roger on Sunday.

Our first Wednesday evening at Southfields and everything went very well. Howard looked after Eweline as she completed a Discover Scuba Diving session while Gill, Toni, and Oona practised in drysuits. Claire and Shane practised before their Open Water qualifying dives at the weekend. Nellie performed her 20 Skills for the Divemaster course while Aaron played.

21-22 October

Putney Leisure Centre has closed for refurbishment so we will be using Southfields Community College.

Steve, Chantel, Ray, Helen, Richard and David all completed the PADI Open Water Referral course with Greg, Toni, Matt, Oona, and Gill.

Simon completed a pool refresher with Peter while Andy and Doug did the pool skills for the PADI rescue Diver course with Roger.

18 October

Gill and Toni continued with their Divemaster theory. Aaron and Nellie completed the Equipment Exchange for the DM course followed by the first skills from the skill circuit. Sarah and Maike completed a refresher course with Howard while Oona jumped in for a splash with Peter.

14 October

Chris, Andy B., Bill, David, Sue, Simon T, Peter, Dawn, Simon Tr, Nellie, Aaron and Mark C went down to Littlehampton for a couple of dives. the first dive was on the Iron Ore wreck which was brilliant. The second dive was meant to be a drift but the wind and waves had come up so unfortunately it had to be called off.

Greg and Kat taught Jane, Alexis, Charlotte, Becky, Wieke, Lee and Nicola all the theory and pool skills required to pass the PADI Open Water course. Nellie, and Toni helped out as Divemasters. Dave and new club member Fiona had a play in the pool.

On Satuday Roger took Carol for her first Discover Scuba Diving session while Nick, Paul and Janice had a go on Sunday with Belinda.

On Sunday Helen and David completed their Scuba Review course with Dave and Rhiannon while Guy practised for the PADI Drysuit specialty course.

There were a few new people along tonight with George practising his mask skills, while Anguis completed a scuba Review with Howard. Mark and Ryan practised before heading back to Marsa Shagra(near Marsa Alam) again.

This weekend Annabel, Caroline, Liz, Janine, Wells, Rich, Rafik, James, Alex and Rich completed the PADI Open Water Referral course with instructors Roger, Belinda, Kat and Greg and with the assistance of Nellie and Howard.

On the Sunday Gemma and Jon tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving session while Dana and Malcolm practised before signing up to dive with Dive Wimbledon in Nuweiba in February.

20 September

Joel finished off the last of his pool skill and theory for the PADI Open water Referral course with Stan while Anhony, Steve, David, Aaronand Howard all played in the pool.

Wow! A very busy Wednesday night. Mike, Pauline, Mike, Lorna, Andy, Mitch, Rachael and Doug had a drysuit orientation with Dave and Howard ready for their PADI Advanced Open Water course this weekend. Lee and Jo also had a last practise before the course as did John and Grant. Stan taught Joel the first half of the skills for the PADI Open Water course while Mark and Matt took Zabian and Mark for a Scuba Review.

Toby successfully completed his equipment exchange for the Divemaster course with Roger.

10 September

A special mention should be made of Mark Naisbitt, Howard Payne and Peter Seed who have all completed their PADI Divemaster course in the last couple of weeks. Well done guys. Wear the staff t-shirts with pride :-)....and I don't mean 'that' t-shirt Howard!

Kim, Mike, Erica, Natasha, Richard and Alex took the first part of their PADI Open water Referral course with Roger, Nellie, Katrina and Dean. Howard conducted a Scuba Review with Richard and Fay while Sandra and Jen took Jo and Richard for their Scuba Review. Mark, Michelle, Simon, Sue and Dave all practised and played in the pool.

6 September

Mark took James for his Scuba Review course while Howard gave Mike and lorna a pool refresher before their PADI Advanced Course on the weekend of 16-17 September. Natasha, Toni and Roger just practised in the pool.

Peter, Nellie and Jen all ventured to Wraysbury near Windsor to try out their night diving skills.

2-3 September

This weekend we had seven students completing their PADI Open Water course dives. Thalia, Carla, Dustin, Will, Ben, Emma and Grzegorz all completed the 4 Open Water qualifying dives with Dive Wimbledon to become PADI Open Water divers. Thanks to instructors Shaun and Staurt and their assistants Toby and Mark.

30 August

A slightly quieter Wednesday than usual with the Divemasters off on a DM pub night. At the pool we had Thalia completing her Referral course with Roger while Andy took Tony for a Scuba Review. Howard and Toby practised as did Carla, Mark, Natasha and Dustin.

26-27 August

Although it was the Bank Holiday we had lots of students wanting to take the theory and pool for the PADI Open Water course. 14 people in all were split into 2 classes with Roger, Sandra, Howard, Mark, Oona, Toby, Simon and Nellie teaching. The students were Keri, Natasha, Emma, Lorna, Grzegorz, Will, Nicki, another Nicki, Paul, Ben, Malcolm, Dana, Kati and Jerry. Everything went well and a lot of laughs were had with everybody knowing they had the BH Monday to relax.

Lots of people came to the dive pool to get in some last minute scuba diving practise before their dive holidays.

Howard conducted a Scuba Review with Louisa and Nick while Mark took Janina, Emma and Bal for a pool refresher.

Chris, Mitch, Rach and Dawn had a practise while Nellie and Kat practised for the Divemaster equipment exchange.

19-20 August

Lucy, Blaise, Annabelle, Katherine and Steve completed their 4 PADI Open Water qualifying dives with Stan and Iain. Well done ladies...and Steve.

Melanie, Louise, Ken and Matt spent Saturday night in the pool practising their Rescue skills before heading to Wraysbury to complete the 4 Rescue Scenarios to become PADI Rescue Divers.

Carolina, Michael, Rafael, Mandy and Liz spent Saturday evening at Putney Leisure Centre with Roger trying a PADI Discover Scuba Diving session. Everybody did really well and will have no problems learning to dive. On Monday Liz signed up for the PADI Open Water Referral course.

Sundays club trip to Littlehampton was unfortunately cancelled due to the wind!!

16 August

Russ and Sharyn came for a practise as did Anthony and Richard. Louise practised using a DSMB with Howard while Shaun took Divemasters Nellie, Toby, Mark and Oona for their Rescue assessments.

12-13 August

Another busy weekend with Stella, Dave, Steve, Claire, Shane, Simon, Will, Daniel, Sabrina, Katherine, Ashley and Kirsten took their PADI Open Water Referral course with Sandra, Roger, Oona, Katrina, Nellie and Howard.

On Sunday Olivia, Erica and Nick had a go at the Discover Scuba Diving course with Erica going on to sign up for the PADI Open Water Referral course in a few weeks. Rob and Danielle had a PADI Scuba Review before heading off on holiday. They were taught by Bob, Dave and Aaron.

9 August

New club members Mitch, Rachael and Olga came to the pool for a play while Ross, Anthony and Paul had a practise. Divemasters Oona, Peter, Mark and Nellie practised a few skills. Our newest qualified PADI Divemaster Howard Payne completed a pool refresher with Mitch and Rachael.

5-6 August

6 new Open Water Divers completed their PADI Open Water Scuba Diving course this weekend. Krishna, Michelle, Bernice, Patrick, Mike and Martin all passed their course with Shaun, Oona, Toby and Mark. Congratulations PADI divers!

Susan and Clare took a PADI Scuba Review course with Andy B. while Peter and Toby tried the equipment exchange. Jen and Oona sat a Divemaster exam while Nellie had a play in the pool with Mike.

Our 4 Poles completed their Open Water dives with Shaun, Peter, Nellie, Jen and Oona. Well done guys.

They were so keen that they stayed and completed a couple more dives on Sunday afternoon and some even dived on Monday as well.

Oona completed her second Divemaster theory session while Dawn completed the last of her DM skill circuit. Mark, Wendy and Trevor passed the Divemaster equipment exchange exercise while Thalia practised with her Dad.

Harry(12), Karl, Tarryn, Josie, Dustin, Marcus and Michelle completed their PADI Open Water Referral course with Roger, Mirjam, Dawn and Howard while 4 Polish men completed their Referral with Martha, Jan and Simon. Congratulations to all our students.

2 July - Kyarra

10 of us headed down to Swanage bright and early to dive the Peveril Ledges and the wreck of the Kyarra. The perfect weather and great visibility made it a great days diving. Nobody found any watches on the Kyarra but there were still lobsters, crabs and the ever present Pollack swimming around.

The terrible ten were Howard, David, Nellie, Andy, Nathan, Carolyn, Russell, Mark, Matt and Roger.

Lawrence and Ann had a practise before heading off on their honeymoon to complete the dives. Louise joined the club and had a bit of a splash around and play with DSMBs as did Mark, Ryan, Matt and Simon.

23 June - Brighton

11 of us headed down to Brighton to Dive the City of Waterford. It was a fantastic afternoon and evening and we all had a great time followed by a relaxed meal and a couple of drinks in the marina. The season is definately underway now!!

James had a Refresher while Mandy practised. Toby, Lucas, Peter and Howard practised Divemaster skills.

Englands first match so Roger was under pressure to make sure that Sally, Norman, Tony, Rianda and Lin all completed their Open Water dives in time for them to get home to watch the football. All successfully completed the PADI Open Water Course. Congratulations!!

Dive Wimbledon club and school trip to El Gouna in Egypt. 12 of us including Simon, Louise, Richard, Dean, Will, Steve, Howard, Ross, Andy, Scott, Carolyn, Nathan, Roger and Jane stayed at the luxurious Movenpick Resort. The first Open Water qualifying dives of the year. Sarah, Nick, Jo, Nellie, Eloise, Alistair, Kobi, Jason and Tamsin all joining our staff of Roger, Shaun, Peter, Mark, Lucas, Toby and Howard to complete the four Open Water qualifying dives to become PADI Open Water divers. They all did really well. Congratulations!!!

10 May

Sharon and Katrina started their PADI Rescue Diver course with Roger while Lucas, Simon and Peter practised their Divemaster skills. Mark played in his drysuit ready for this weekends drysuit speciality course. Kobi had bought a full set of equipment which he was very pleased with while Richard had another practise in the pool.

6 - 7 May

Martha started the Referral course with Will, Sarah, Nick, Richard, Tamsin, Jo, Nellie, Eloise(The Dive Wmbledon TNT magazine competition winner), Alistair, Jason and Rianda. Roger, Simon, Trevor and Wendy came along to help teach them all in the pool. Everybody did really well and seven of the class will be completing the course next weekend with Dive Wimbledon. Will will be completing the course in El Gouna in June on the dive school trip while Rianda will dive in the UK in a month or so.

Assistant Instructor Andy introduced Rory, James and Sarah to diving with a Discover Scuba diving course. Peter helped out as usual.

3 May

Richard came along for a pool refresher ready for the club trip to El Gouna in June. Lucas and Simon completed a few of the skills with Roger and then the DMs tried a bit of buddy breathing. Peter was showing off in his nice shiny new Cressi suit.

29 April

Wendy, Dawn, Simon, Chris, Matt, Mark, Howard, Arne, Ross, Aaron and Roger headed down to Wittering for a couple of dives. An early start with the boat due to leave at 8.15am but we all had a great time diving the Mulberry Harbour and the Fossil Beds. The water was a bit chilly as Matt the only hardy wetsuit diver noticed quickly. Lots of fun and a great way to start the dive season.

26 April

One of our busiest Wednesday night pool sessions with club members Chris, Ross, Howard, Wendy and Arne practising in drysuits for the weekeeds dive club trip. Louis and Matt practised their skills while Lucas completed part of the divemaster skill circuit.

22 - 23 April

Another busy Referral weekend with Steve, Charlie, Richard, Yinka and Kobi completing their Open Water Referral course with Roger, Lucas and Peter. On Sunday Emma and Gavin completed their Quick Review courses.

Yinka, Katarina and Vicki had a Discover Scuba session with Andy and afterwards Yinka signed up for her PADI Open Water Referral course which she will complete in 2 weeks time.

Rachel and Peter completed the PADI Scuba Tune Up with Dave before their holiday in El Gouna staying at the Movenpick. Let's hope they don't wreck the place before we get there in June.

The final session with 'The Bill'. I was coordinating the diving extras and had even been asked to play the role of a non speaking dive instructor on film...but when I arrived I discovered I had been demoted to the role of Pool Attendent!! What a let down!!!!

Not really dive related but Dive Wimbledon assisted the TV show 'The Bill' by providing scuba diving equipment and technical expertise for one of their episodes.

Another Divemaster pool night with Dawn, Lucas and Simon starting their courses. In the pool Peter and Howard demonstrated skills from the Open Water course to the new DMs.

12 - 19 March

Roger, Linda, Nicola, Caroline, Phillipa, Isobel, Simeon, Marco, Nathaniel, Bettina, Sari and Louise joined Dive Wimbledon on a weeks holiday at the luxurious 5* Coral Hilton Hotel in Nuweiba in Egypt. Linda, Nicola, Nathaniel, Bettina and Simeon all completed their PADI Open Water and PADI Advanced Open Water courses with Roger. Congratulations.

We all had a fabulous time and it was very hard to leave!!

This Sunday we had a return visit from the 82nd Wandsworth Air Training Cadets to Wimbledon Leisure Centre. Samantha, Keira, Chris, Azhar, Simon, Ellis, James, and Adele continued from where they left off last time while Sam, Joseph, Aaron and Philippa had their first try at scuba diving taking their PADI Discover Scuba Diving course. Thanks to Bob, Trevor and Roger for their help.

11 - 12 February

A great group of students joined us this weekend for their PADI Open Water scuba diving course including Lawrence and Ann who are getting married soon, Ian, Paul(May come to Egypt with us in June), Nathaniel(coming to Egypt with Dive Wimbledon in March) and Katie(May come to Egypt in June with us). The whole group really gelled and we had a great weekend. Thanks to Martha, Peter, Mark for all their help.

James completed a one on one Quick Review with Aaron very successfully while Katie had a Discover Scuba Diving session with Richard.

All in all a fun weekend with most people making it to the pub afterwards for a celebratory drink. Well done one and all!

8 February

Tonight was the first of our Wednesday evening pool sessions for the year. Chris and Dave started their Rescue Diver course while Peter and Roger did their best to panic. Usually we are bigger than the students but not this time. We were well and truly outdone by these guys.

Andy took Emma for a Quick Review before she heads off to Cairns for a bit of sunshine.

Arne had one last pool session before heading off to New Zealand for 2 weeks.

28 - 29 January

The Maldives and Fiji are great places to dive and that is where this weekends PADI Open Water Referral students are going to complete their scuba diving courses. Matt and Jenny Corcoran are off to Fiji, Mal and Sophie are off to the Maldives after their wedding in Australia and Georgina Redhead and George Wright are off to the Maldives as well.

Their course went really well with Roger, Jon, Peter and Arne looking after them and producing some pretty good divers!! Their buoyancy was superb. Well done guys and enjoy your holidays...we're not at all jealous.

Nick completed a PADI Discover Scuba Diving session with James and immediately decided to sign up and walked out with his course materials at the end. That's enthusiasm for you!!

On Sunday Keith had a Quick Review with Jane. He's done the Maldives so he's smugly heading off to Africa this time.

Mark and Oona came for a practise after their trip to Dahab and Oona signed up for the divemaster course.

22 January

Today we had 10 scouts from the 8th Wimbledon Scout Group trying a PADI Discover Scuba Diving session at Wimbledon Leisure Centre with Roger, Nathan, Howard and Andy. The boys all found it easy and took to diving like a duck to water. Well done guys!!

14 - 15 January

A very quiet weekend at the pool but this suited Louise and Andrew who were completing the PADI Open Water Referral course. They both did extremely well and the buoyancy was quite superb by the end of the session. Andrew is off to Egypt in two weeks to complete his course and Louise is still deciding where she will complete her 4 dives.

8 January

Our first session for the year and what a way to start. We had 12 boys and girls as well as 4 leaders from the Warspite Sea Scouts completing a Discover Scuba Diving session with Aaron, Roger, Arne, Howard and Toby at Wimbledon Leisure Centre. Everything went really well as the photos show below.

Over the Christmas period we received photos from a couple of our students Linda and Craig who completed their PADI Open water course in Australia. They loved it so much that Linda even considered completing her Divemaster course!

Gary learnt to dive with us late last year and has gone on to complete courses in cave diving and other specialities.
